Duke Street Primary School – House Teams
House teams are a long standing part of Duke Street Primary School. The idea behind the House teams was to encourage and foster team spirit and develop a collective sense of belonging with the children and staff. The House Team names are based on the names of the Dukes. Gloucester, Edinburgh, Cornwall and Lancaster.
Children collect house points relating to good work, reading at home, manners, helping others or for anything else that staff feel needs rewarding. These are added up and contribute to the House Team’s overall total as well as individual rewards.
We have a House Point cup which has the ribbons on for the winning House each week. We also have two house point shields which are awarded annually. A shield is awarded to the team with the greatest number of house points across the year. A second shield is awarded to the pupil who has collected the highest number of house points across the year.
